Epic Foundation Launches Global “IPO-Inspired” Roadshow for Nonprofits
Global Nonprofit Startup Will Present Its 2015 Portfolio of 20 Selected Organizations to Donors in Multiple Cities
NEW YORK, NY, Sep 15, 2015 – After receiving more than 1400 applications from 85 countries, Epic Foundation, in partnership with the PVBLIC Foundation, an in-kind media grant making organization, announces today its first global portfolio of 20 nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) and social enterprises. The goal of the portfolio is to provide the next generation of donors access to organizations with the most effective solutions for fighting inequalities faced by children and youth around the world. The team will debut its findings over the next four months to its community of entrepreneurs, private banks, family offices, “voices” (e.g. entertainers and athletes), startups and corporate donors, through a “global roadshow” in order to attract large donations for the portfolio of organizations.
The roadshow will stop in more than 15 cities, including New York, London, San Francisco, Paris, Hong Kong, Los Angeles, Singapore, Brussels, Sao Paulo, Mumbai and Geneva.
“Through the portfolio and global roadshow, we are connecting the next generation of donors with organizations that are saving lives and empowering children and youth globally. Our aim is to provide each organization with crucially needed multi-year funding so they can scale their impact,” said Alexandre Mars, CEO and Founder. Epic Foundation will distribute 100% of the funds it receives from donors to the portfolio of organizations. This enables donors to give to portfolio organizations while receiving the ongoing support and capabilities of Epic Foundation, at no cost to them.
Epic Foundation provides new avenues for donors to engage with their philanthropy and the organizations they support through technology and services. The team will launch two innovative web and mobile-based applications for donors in 2015 and early 2016. In addition, Epic Foundation commits to monitoring and reporting the ongoing impact of each portfolio organization for its donors.
Epic Foundation selected the organizations using a state-of-the-art methodology that was developed based on a global review of the best public and private sector approaches to analyzing organizations. The team reviewed each of the +1400 applicants across all areas of their work — impact, operations and leadership — using a three-stage process that included in-depth analysis, interviews with management and field evaluations. The final stage of the process took the team across 11 countries as they traveled to each of the top 50 finalist organizations to validate findings and select the 20 portfolio organizations.
The portfolio organizations work across four sectors within the field of child and youth-related causes: Health, Education, Rights and Protection, and Economic Empowerment. The portfolio has a global reach with organizations based in East Africa, Brazil, Western Europe, India, Southeast Asia and the United States.
“We have used our passion, our energy and one of the most advanced selection methodologies to review +1400 applications: I am confident that the resulting 2015 Epic Portfolio includes some of the finest NGOs and social enterprise around the world,” said Nicola Crosta, Executive Vice President of Epic Foundation.
