The City of Laguna Woods has been my client since they were first going for Cityhood in 1998. We have created several sites for them. They are closely linked to the community of Laguna Woods Village and so some of the editors are shared. They are mindful of their money so we did a mini-facelift to make the site templates more compliant with current programming practices and devices. They’re last redo on the templates was over six years ago. So much has changed. Old programming wasn’t as clean with newer browsers and devices.
I also wanted to give them easy ways to control their home page slideshow without the need to learn a lot of complicated plugins – just the same CMS tool they are familiar with, so they have a responsive slideshow. This city is unique in that every resident is a senior citizen. The community of Laguna Woods Village has most of the population, but there are other assisted living facilities within the city limits, as well as many businesses that serve their residents. They wanted to show it off and serve both businesses and residents with their images so that everyone felt included.
It was a pleasure to help them clean up their templates and stylesheet while respecting their budget to update 30 templates and create new graphics.
